This is a pretty exciting time for me as this book has been almost 4o years in the making. It’s a collection of some of my favorite personal images… some iconic and some never before published. Subject-wise they are very diverse, but they all illustrate those three elements in photography that are so important to me; light, color and the moment. Paul Caponigro, the great master black and white photographer, asked me recently if the photographs in the book were “traditional or digital”. I explained that they were both, to which he replied, “Oh, then the book is tradigital!” I couldn’t have put it any better.
About a year and a half ago, I began working with my friend, Lowell Williams, who designed the book. A former principle of Pentagram, Lowell is an extraordinary designer who I’ve had the privilege of working with on many projects over the years. As expected, the book design is simple and elegant.
So we finally begin the printing of the book. To say that I am in a state of anxious anticipation would be an understatement. Let the presses roll!
