In defining a “sense of place” we face all kinds of obstacles. One of the major issues can be weather. Many photographers don’t even bother to go out if the sun’s not shining, it’s snowing, raining, foggy, etc. But it’s something we have no control over and you have to learn to “play the hand your dealt”. Lousy weather can produce interesting photo possibilities. And, it can help define the “mood” of a place. The next time your faced with less than perfect weather, challenge yourself to go out and make pictures. You may be surprised with the results.
