I just completed teaching another workshop. This one was my first on Whidbey Island off the coast of Seattle. It was the perfect location for stretching your photographic boundaries. And, the group that I had, did just that. Like most of my classes, they came with strong portfolios but in most cases, one dimensional. Part of what I try to do is to encourage and push individuals to “get out of their box” and try some new things. Besides critiques, I offer them ideas and suggestions to do this… things I refer to as “the visual toolbox”. And in attempting new things you don’t always succeed, but it’s important to try. Only by experimenting will you be able to move your work forward.
I’ll soon be announcing several new workshops and photo tours for 2012. So please keep checking the website. Hope to see you at one of these in the near future.
