It had been eight years since I was last in Portugal. From the get go, I have loved this country and it’s people. My first trip in 1971 wasn’t even planned but isn’t that the best way to stumble on a place? This trip would include many of the places we had been before but as always, include a few new surprises as well. And, for the first time, we included a side trip to The Azores, a two hour plus flight east into the Atlantic. Concentrating on the main island of San Miguel, we toured with our local guide and combed the island from one end to the other and many pints in-between. It was another gift offered up from Portugal! Next time, the wait won’t be so long.
